Curriculum Structure

Grade 10 - Grade 12 : Curriculum Overview

CCIS collaborates with El Camino Real Charter High School, a top public high school in the United States, to adopt El Camino's curriculum, course system, teaching materials, credit-based management, and comprehensive evaluation system. This is integrated with the strengths of Chinese high school courses in basic education, providing a seamless and comprehensive educational experience.

In high school, the focus shifts to career and college readiness. Using the Common Core English Language Arts (ELA) standards, students learn academic writing and read more complex texts. Literacy skills now connect across ELA, social studies, science, and special classes. Guided by the connected learning objectives, students research and display data, analyze literature from around the world, and expand their vocabulary. Science and social studies become more tailored at this stage. Our students explore biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth science and how they connect to their social studies learning objectives of geography, history, governments, and economics.

English Curriculum

At CCIS, we support our students in learning English through language acquisition courses. CCIS provides specialized ESL and IELTS courses for English learners and offers in-class support in their subject courses. This approach allows us to connect with students at their current English level and helps them progress toward their language goals through a well-designed pathway.

AP Course

The High School curriculum (Grades 9–12) is College Preparatory in nature, offering a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The graduation requirements and the elective courses offered ensure eligibility for universities and colleges around the world. All High School students are required to complete a four-year plan by selecting courses noted in the Student Parent Hand-book, especially if they decide to take AP Courses in Grades 11–12. Our guidance and counselling staff assists students with their course selection.

CCIS, and indeed the US-education system, is unique in that it allows students the creative freedom to study subjects in their areas of interest. Not only is this of great motivation to students, it can also assist them in targeting specific university majors as they build and customize their high school transcript.
